On April 8, 2026, faculty members and students of the SJTU Asia-Pacific Graduate Institute (SJTU-APGI), led by Dean of SJTU-APGI Peng Yinghong, gathered in Singapore to watch the live broadcast of the 130th anniversary celebration of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Through the livestream, they joined the wider SJTU family in celebrating this historic milestone and reflecting on the University’s 130-year legacy of patriotism, excellence, and innovation. Xiong Sihao, Member of the CPC Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Education and Vice Minister of Education, read out the reply letter from the President of China Xi Jinping addressed to faculty members and students of the four Jiao Tong universities, further underscoring the significance of the occasion.

Yang Zhenbin, Party Secretary of SJTU and Chairman of the
University Council, presided over the meeting. Remarks were delivered by Zhu
Zhongming, Deputy Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee, while Ding
Kuiling, President of SJTU, presented a report on the University’s development.
Li Luming, President of Tsinghua University, delivered congratulatory remarks
on behalf of partner universities, extending warm congratulations to the
faculty, staff, students, and alumni of SJTU. Thomas F. Hofmann, President of
Technical University of Munich, also delivered remarks as a representative of
overseas universities, congratulating SJTU on its 130th anniversary
and its remarkable achievements.
The event highlighted SJTU-APGI’s close connection with the
University and its role as an important overseas platform for advancing SJTU’s
international engagement.
The event was also attended by Vice Dean of SJTU-APGI Xu Min, CNSB-CREATE SJTU team member Jin Xin as well as staffs and students from SJTU-APGI.
