In May 2025, the 2nd Steering Committee Meeting of the CNSB Programme was held at the CNSB Meeting Room in CREATE Tower. The meeting was co-chaired by Professor Zhang Zhaoguo, Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), and Professor Chng Wee Joo, Vice President of the National University of Singapore (NUS).The session focused on updates from the CNSB team, led by Programme Director Professor Peng Yinghong (SJTU) and Co-Director Professor Lin Zhiqun (NUS). The team presented research progress and key highlights, reporting that all key performance indicators had already exceeded the Year 1 target. 

The meeting was attended by Steering Committee member Professor Subodh Mhaisalkar, Executive Director (Academic Research), NRF (virtually); Mr. Ni De En, Director (Urban Solutions and Sustainability), NRF; Professor Liu Bin, Deputy President (Research and Technology), NUS; Professor Xu Ping, SJTU; Professor Xu Min, Vice-Dean of SJTU-APGI; Professor Matthew Chang, NUS; Professor Tong Yen Wah, NUS; Professor Miao Xiaoling, SJTU; Professor Yew Wen Shan, NUS; and Professor Dr. Loh Zhi Yang, NRF. Additional faculty who joined virtually included SJTU Professors Fan Chunhai, Zhu Xinyuan, He Ya-Wen, Jin Xin, and Zhang Jingxin.

The Steering Committee commended the team for its strong progress and expressed confidence in the programme’s potential to advance sustainable innovation and synthetic biology.
